Rather than hunting down a 38 year old part for my Realistic 10 band per channel EQ, I decided to try to fix it with shop hardware. (I also wanted to avoid the teardown, de-soldering, installing, rebuilding, and testing of the offending button.) What does Dual Monoblock mean in a simple way to explain
Normally a stereo has one transformer, and one preamp circuit, and one main power board, and one stereo amplifier board. There is the possibility of crosstalk. Crosstalk is hearing the stuff that is meant for the left channel, bleeding over into the right channel. And hearing the stuff that is meant for the right channel, bleeding over into the left channel. Dual monoblock is just as it sounds. There are two transformers, two power boards, two audio power output boards… So, the two mono amplifiers built into one stereo cabinet is considered dual monoblock.
What year was this model in production? Sold here in the USA?

Drumers have always been hard to find
I just purchased a 1020 and the shop says that it was thoroughly checked but yet when I toggle the boat switch to the independent left or independent right channels both VU meters function and I don’t hear a difference they claim functions perfectly. Do you hear music out of both left and right speaker , when you’re on the dedicated left or right channel?
your pinch roller looks shoot luckily its not a dual capstan. Rolling the tape on the way out due to slidding on the roller as the roller lost all its grip due to age.

How do I connect this receiver to the iPhone?
I have never owned an I phone so I could only guess. If your I phone has a ⅛” earphone jack, you can get an adapter to go from ⅛” plug to 2 RCA plugs. This would allow you to connect it to your receiver into any RCA input other than the PHONO.

@@gustavoinsane Do you mean: “the phono input does not work correct”? You are not looking for an input on your phone, you want an output. And what is “p2”? Remember, I have never owned an I-phone.
@@KKnockk sorry, I expressed myself wrong. The phone input on the front of the receiver, it can be used to connect the cell phone's aux if I have the correct adapter and cables

record eq?
Imagine that you are recording from an old vinyl record. There are loads of scratchy ticks that could be partially eliminated by not recording the high end frequencies. Also, records are known for not having fab low end, so you could give that a little boost if you wanted.
i know all that. what i meant was you didnt demo the eq control. very important because it means you can tune the deck to pure chrome BASF cassettes.

I'm looking for instructions on how to load the tape and it's not obvious to me. That would have been nice to see in your video.
Sorry, it is no longer in my possession, so I can't make that video. There are pins on either side of the center black block. (as seen in the video) It goes over those 2 pins, and under everything else. So that when you move the control to PLAY, the tape will be pinched between the capstan and the pinch roller. The capstan is a pencil diameter drive pin, and the pinch roller is a larger rubber faced wheel. These grab the tape the tape and pull it over the heads at a steady speed.

I had an hk560 that I purchased in 1979. I liked the sound but unfortunately it had a lot of reliability issues. This must have been when H/K was undergoing an ownership transition, which caused their reliability to suffer. I remember that the unit was laid up for more than a year because I couldn't find anyone who understood how to work on it. Looking back, I should have sent it back to the factory. When I finally did get it repaired, I don't think it was repaired properly and it only had a life of a few years after that. In any event, it caused me a fair number of headaches. The H/K cassette deck I bought at the same time had even more reliability problems.

My brother was in Vietnam during the war and I sent him money and he bought one and had it shipped to me. I did recording for some friends with a music group doing a demo tape, using the sound on sound function to add layers of sessions. It would have worked better if we had even a couple of half decent mixers and a few more microphones and could have mixed it all live. Too many times going back and forth with the sound on sound ended up burying the first few passes in hiss, and we could have made much better recordings if we had some dynamic range compression with a built in peak limiter. It was a pretty interesting experience for a high school kid to serve as a recording engineer.

There are all manor of adapters available. You are looking for a DIN jack to two RCA plugs. It will look something like the one in this ad: bit.ly/46mJmAe I forget the number of pins in the plug of this Philips unit.
